Upon his return to Kentucky, he cut timber and sent it down the Cumberland River on a barge to a Nashville mill for the unique, custom woodwork that makes this home such a cherished and admired landmark. The same profiles of hand carved trim are combined throughout the home to create unique millwork designs in each room, including the dramatic diamond pattern trim that defines the showcase two story foyer. The silent butler from the original kitchen to the dining room is used today as a display space . The stone foundation, all walks, and fireplaces for the home were hand hewn from a hill near the home.
